Joe Lee Williams, 65, of Daphne, a native and former resident of Atmore, died Saturday, March 29, 2008 at Thomas Hospital in Fairhope.
He was a native of the Freemanville Community of Atmore and graduated from Escambia County Training School in 1959. He retired from Scott Paper Company in Mobile and was a member of Macedonia Baptist Church in Daphne.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Autry and Aline Williams; brother, Leo Williams, Virgil Peoples and James “Son” Williams; and sisters, Ollie M. Barnes and Geneva Rivers.
Survivors include his wife, Ellen B. Williams of Daphne; daughter, Karen Lynn (Caruso) Lamar of West Palm Beach, Fla.; two sons, Erold Andre Williams of Mobile and Anthony Quinn (Regina) Williams of Daphne; two sisters, Juanita Hubbert of Thomasville and Idell (Robert) Longmire of Atmore; three brothers, Leroy (Minnie) Williams of Atmore, Herman (Barbara) Williams of Detroit and Willie Fred (Constance) Williams of Tacoma, Wash.; seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, April 4 at the New Order Missionary Baptist Church in Atmore with the Rev. Alfonzia Williams and the Rev. Sidney Grant officiating. Burial will follow at the Williams Family Cemetery in Atmore.
