Willie Mae Thompson Smith, 93, a native and resident of Stockton, died Sunday, May 22, 2011 at her daughters residence.

She started working at Mattie Rhodes Hospital and retired as an x-ray technician from North Baldwin Infirmary.

She was preceded in death by her husband, R.C. “Dick” Smith; and one grandson, James H. “Jimbo” Smith.

Survivors include son, James Newman (Juanita) Smith of Stockton; daughter, Mickey Jean Sutherland of Bay Minette; four grandchildren, Allen Wade (Pam) Caprara of Cleveland, Tenn., Nancy Jean “Jeannie” Kittrell of Bromley, Melinda Hinds of Montgomery, Stephanie (Rod) McCormick of Madison, Miss.; and great-grandchildren, Conner and Cade Caprara, Mary-Stewart

Hinds, Megan and Bailey Smith, Molly and Dayton McCormick and Zachary Kittrell.

Visitation begins at 9 a.m. with funeral services at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 28 at the Cottage Hill Presbyterian Church, Stockton, with the Rev. Tim Ferrell officiating. Burial will follow at Stockton Memorial Cemetery.
