Mary Alys Wilmore, 93, born May 2, 1917 in Monroeville, Ohio, a longtime resident of Orange Beach, died Monday, July 26, 2010 at South Baldwin Regional Medical Center.

She was the daughter of Edmund and Mary Enright.

She was preceded in death by three sisters, Grace Anderson, Patricia Gates and Edna Martish; and two brothers, James Enright and Roger Enright.

She will be remembered for her sharp mind, quick wit and love of nature. She cared for many creatures over the years, including dogs, cats, geese and ducks. She will be greatly missed by many nieces, nephews, friends and neighbors. “C’est la vie!”

Survivors include her devoted husband of 53 years, Frank W. Wilmore.

They met while she was working as a nurse and he a geologist in Venezuela. They were married in Colombo, Ceylon (now Sri Lanka) and lived in many parts of the world, including South America, Saudi Arabia, Mexico and the Seychelles Islands. They worked together for the forest service in Flagstaff, Ariz., as mountain fire rangers.

A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
