James Edward “Boots” Wilson, 64, a native and resident of Loxley, died suddenly of a heart attack on Monday, May 19, 2008.

He was a graduate of Robertsdale High School; served his country well during Vietnam as a member of the United States Air Force. He attended and graduated from Faulkner State Community College. During his college years he was employed by Baldwin Wholesale Florist and Scott Paper Company.

Then he joined the Town of Loxley where after 36 years he retired in Oct. 2005 as superintendent of utilities. He became a utility inspector with the engineering firm of Goodwyn, Mills and Cawood Inc.

An avid fisherman and hunter, he was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Robertsdale; a lifetime member of the Loxley Optimist Club and was actively involved in fun raising for the Alabama Sheriff'’s Boys’ Ranch in Summerdale for many years.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Marshall Presley and Edna Edwina Jeter Wilson; brother, Joe Frank Wilson; and sister, Merle W. Shambo.

Survivors include his wife of 38 years, Caren Bertagnolli Wilson of Loxley; daughter, Dena Wilson (Robert Michael) Caldwell of Bay Minette; son, Kevin Andrew Wilson of Loxley; two granddaughters, Sara Catherine Caldwell and Fairby Caldwell, both of Bay Minette; sister, Mary Sue Hughes of Loxley; and brother, Roy Lee (Rhonda) Wilson of Birmingham.

Funeral services were held Thursday, May 22 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Robertsdale. Burial followed at Greenwood Cemetery in Loxley.

The family requests memorial donations be made to St. Patrick’s School, P.O. Box 609, Robertsdale, AL 36567.

Arrangements were made by Mack Funeral Home and Crematory, Robertsdale.
