GULF SHORES, Ala – Employees of the Gulf Shores Winn-Dixie held a “Wear Jeans to Work Day” to raise money for the Gulf Shores United Methodist Church Mother’s Day Out and Preschool program.
This fundraiser was Nov. 3 in conjunction with the preschool’s annual Harvest Festival in the Gulf Shores Winn-Dixie Shopping Center.
Employees raised additional monies by grilling hot dogs and ribs throughout the festival for the shoppers. They presented a $200 check to Lana Crawford, the Mother’s Day Out & Preschool Director.
“This money is enough for a one month scholarship which will help a family that may be temporarily struggling keep their child in school,” Crawford said.
The GSUMC Mother’s Day Out and Preschool has been in the Gulf Shores community for more than 35 years.
Steve Moore, the Gulf Shores Winn-Dixie Store Director, said “It was a privilege to participate in the Harvest and an honor to be able to raise money for the preschool so they can continue to enrich the lives of our children,” Winn-Dixie Director Steve Moore said. “We are grateful to be a part of the Gulf Shores community and strive to support it in whatever way we can.” Gulf Shores Winn-Dixie also contributed by donating lunch and welcome bags for the Harvest vendors.
