DAPHNE, Ala. — W.J. Carroll Intermediate School gifted-education students recently visited the Black Education Museum, located on the school’s campus.
A joint effort between the Baldwin County Public School System and the Heritage Foundation, the Black Education Museum was established to preserve the memories of Baldwin County Training School.
The local education foundation, Supporting Educational Enrichment in Daphne’s Schools, awarded a grant for the gifted education program titled “Living in the Past.”
Students will use scanners and software to preserve historical documents and pictures to be used on the Black Education Museum’s web site with the goal of seeing the site become a well-respected black education resource for both educators and students.
