Orange Beach Police report a female in her mid-20s died Wednesday night after falling off a balcony at the Phoenix X Condominiums in Orange Beach.

Orange Beach Police Chief Billy Wilkins said he believes the incident was an accident, and it still is under investigation. Wilkins said police were notified at around 9:30 p.m. on Wednesday of the accident, which he believes was a fall from 14 stories high.

“At this time, I am not 100 percent sure her family has been notified,” Wilkins said, noting she was from Louisiana. “We're not sure why she was here.”

Wilkins said an autopsy would be the best way to determine if alcohol was involved in the incident.
