SUMMERDALE — The town of Summerdale is one step closer to getting a new water well.
During its regular meeting Monday, the Summerdale Town Council heard an update on the project, which included the submission of chemical tests of the water well to the Alabama Department of Environmental Management.
“We should get the results back in about two weeks,” Summerdale Public Works Director John Resmondo told the Council.
He added that if those tests render favorable, proposals and contracts to construct the well should be ready by the end of June.
Resmondo also told the Council that preliminary testing of the site has been positive.
“So far, the water looks real good,” he said. “In the preliminary testing, the iron and magnesium levels were low. So we won’t have to treat for those.”
If testing is successful, the 320-foot well would provide a second source of water for the town of Summerdale.
