SPANISH FORT, Ala.—A crowd of about 30 listened intently May 25 as Col. (Ret.) Glenn D. Frazier recounted his ordeal as a prisoner of war during World War II.
Frazier, who served in the U.S. Army, is the author of "Hell’s Guest and served as the keynote speaker during the Daphne-Spanish Fort Kiwanis Club’s Memorial Day remembrance ceremony at Ryan’s in the Eastern Shore Centre.
"We had an excellent program with Col Frazier in full uniform,…and the presentation went very well," said Jack Gifford, president-elect of the service club.
An estimated 13 of the audience members were guests, he said.
"The club paid tribute to Col. Frazier and his valiant service to our country and recognized all veterans who attended the meeting as honored guests," said Kiwanis President Carolyn Parham.
In addition, the club recently inducted Bill DeVault as a new member. DeVault was sponsored by Joseph Davis.
The service club supports a variety of youth programs and "other viable aspects" of the community and meets at noon each Wednesday at Ryan’s. Guests are invited to attend.
