ROBERTSDALE, Alabama -- A 72-year-old Robertsdale woman was killed and two others injured in a single-vehicle crash Monday evening on County Road 64, five miles north of Robertsdale.

According to a press release issued Monday by the Alabama Department of Public Safety, Helen Hallford, 72, of Robertsdale, was driving a 1997 Mercury Grand Marquis when she lost control of the vehicle, ran off the road and struck a tree at approximately 5:35 p.m. Monday.

She was pronounced dead at the scene by Baldwin County Assistant Coroner Ron Steade. Two passengers in the vehicle, Kimberly H. Gardner, 39, of Robertsdale, and a 12-year-old, were taken to USA Hospital in Mobile for treatment of their injuries.

No further information is available and Alabama State Troopers are investigating the accident.
