SUMMERDALE, Ala. - A three-car accident Friday morning on Alabama Highway 59 in Summerdale resulted in two people going to South Baldwin Regional Medical Center.
The accident involved a Cadillac, a Tacoma truck and a boxed truck, Summerdale officer Tracy Whiteside — who responded to the incident — said.
The two who went to the hospital were the driver of the Cadillac, Jimmy Lawrence, of Pensacola, and the driver of the Tacoma, Raymond Laforce, Whiteside said. Laforce was released from the hospital later in the day, Whiteside said, but Lawrence has yet to be released as of 2 p.m. Friday.
According to Summerdale Police Chief Frankie "Eddie" Ingram, the incident happened around 8 a.m. in front of Baldwin EMC when the Cadillac was southbound on the highway and hit the rear end of the boxed truck in front of it and then veered into the northbound lane and hit the Tacoma head on.
Ingram called it a "serious accident.
"It totaled both vehicles, the Cadillac and the (Tacoma)," Ingram said.
The Summerdale Fire Department also responded to the wreck.
