The first 11 digits of Pi are: 3.1415 926535 — which are easy to remember if you sing the numbers to the tune of the Mouseketeer's song.

So my students broke up into three groups and they wrote a Piem — a word that conjoins “pi” and “poem.” Piem is a portmanteau word — one that combines two or more words to make a new work, such as smoke and fog equals smog or breakfast plus lunch becomes brunch.

A Piem is formed so that the first word has 3 letters, the second word has 1, the third has 4, the fourth has 1, the fifth as 5 and so on.
