Creative Writing is a new addition to the GSHS 10th Annual Night of the Arts Talent Show. Students have been encouraged to demonstrate their writing abilities through prose and poetry.

Entries are being accepted in three categories: Poetry, Nonfiction, and Fiction.  A student may enter works in any or all of these areas. Cash prizes will be awarded. GSHS English teacher Nelda Reichley, has been instrumental in collecting students’ works and has relied on the other English teachers to seek out and encourage those students who have both passion and ability to write.

Students do not have to be currently enrolled in an English class to enter the competition.

The Talent Show Committee is grateful to Jane Daugherty and staff of the Thomas B. Norton Library in Gulf Shores for their help in judging the Creative Writing entries.  Judging will take place prior to the Talent Show, which is on Feb. 22 this year. Winners will be announced and prizes awarded during the show, and their works will be on display.

The Talent Show will take place at the Gulf Shores United Methodist Church auditorium from 5:30-8:30 p.m.  Tickets are on sale at the high school library and at the Thomas B. Norton Public Library in Gulf Shores.
