YEA! is now accepting applications

Posted

Foley — The South Baldwin Chamber of Commerce is accepting applications for the Young Entrepreneurs Academy (YEA!) fall 2016 class. YEA! is a yearlong program that guides middle and high school students through launching and running their own business or social movement. YEA! is open to all students in grades 6-12.

The Young Entrepreneurs Academy teaches students how to turn their passions, skills and talents into great ideas. YEA! provides instruction on how to pitch that idea and earn funding. YEA! teaches what steps to take and how to launch a business; students graduate YEA! as the CEO of their own business.

Check out the most recent success, graduate of the YEA! class of 2016 and winner of the investor panel, Jonah Smith, CEO of Carnisaurus, enjoyed grilling with his family. Inspired by a meat lover uncle, Jonah created a recipe for a smoked meatloaf dubbed the “Bacon Wrapter.” Made with ground beef, pork and sausage, wrapped in a bacon lattice and covered in a special rub, the Bacon Wrapter is sure to please anyone who enjoys meat. Jonah is using the funding from the investor panel to continue his work and business plan and intends to sell his product at festivals and events throughout Baldwin County.

If you know a student who has the determination and creativity to succeed in YEA! they can apply online by Sept. 30, at YEAUSA.org, or contact Gale Croft at 251-943-5520.
