YMCA expands services

DAPHNE, Ala.—The YMCA of South Alabama plans to serve the community more than ever as it takes the final steps toward completing the purchase of the Omni Health & Fitness Center’s equipment and assumption of membership in Daphne.

Omni members will gain more services and expanded amenities when they lose their Daphne facility by gaining use of the YMCA’s indoor and outdoor swimming pools, racquetball, gymnasium, Whirlpool and access to children’s programs, afterschool care, youth sports, swim lessons, swim team and use of the YMCA’s other branches. The YMCA is currently negotiating with the personal training staff at Omni to also transition over to the Bounds YMCA facility to serve those in that program at Omni. The current YMCA members will get the benefit of the equipment being transferred over. The YMCA will assume all existing  Omni memberships and plans to do the same with personal training agreements.

To accommodate the YMCA and Omni membership at the Bounds Family YMCA, a remodeling project has already begun. Elements of the remodeling are as follows:

The YMCA and Omni will close for a short time not yet determined to complete remodeling and moving of the exercise equipment. During this time, Omni and YMCA members can use the YMCA’s four other branches in Mobile and Baldwin counties.
