Mazie Ann Safford Young, affectionately known to many as “Money,” born March 4, 1928, in Citronelle, died Thursday, July 3, 2008.
She married Emerson LaBaron Young in 1945.
She was an independent woman, with a love for her family. She had a wonderful heart not only for her family but friends and neighbors who knew her, loved her and respected her. She will be missed.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Emerson LaBaron Young; a daughter, Emma Brooks; and one granddaughter, Kandice LaNiece Wasp.
Survivors include eight daughters, Rosetta Young-Wasp, Electa Denham, Loretta Alexander, Thelma J. Todd and Carolyn Safford of Fairhope, Annie P. Young of Philadelphia, Mildred (Lanny) Brown of Houston and Carrie Y. Wilson of Conway, S.C.; brother, Ernest (Nonk) Safford of Fairhope; two sisters, Emma Edmunds and Mildred Holcomb of Fairhope; devoted friend, Frankie Pugh of Fairhope; 11 grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, a host of other loving relatives and friends.
Visitation begins at 10 a.m. with funeral services at 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 8 at Christian Valley Baptist Church with the Rev. Roy Parker Sr. officiating. Interment will follow at Twin Beech Cemetery.
