FAIRHOPE - The city’s first class of Junior Master Gardeners will soon reap what they sowed.
On April 22, the local youth gardeners from the Rotary Youth Club's after-school program planted the city's first community garden. Two months later, the first crops of tomatoes are almost ready for harvesting.
“They have been so excited watching the garden grow,” said Debbie Calhoun, the main coordinator of the project who also designed the program’s ambitious curriculum. “You can see the tomatoes and beans will soon be ready to pick.”
