I highly disagree with the review of “Kit Kittredge - an American Girl,” written by Dan Hudak. Yes, the movie may be a bit depressing, but the story takes place in the 1930s, during the Great Depression. I personally think that the point of the story, and or the movie, is to encourage people to appreciate what they have. When I saw the movie with my mother on Saturday, July 5th, the first thing I said when the movie was over was “Wow that really makes you appreciate what you have!” The movie also had a positive influence on me. Kit Kittredge wanted to be a reporter, and she taught me to stand up for what I believe in.
Some of the families in this movie may lose their homes, but I think the point of them losing their homes is to show how even though times are tough; you “Don’t let it beat you.” I agree with you on one thing, the thieves do steal for their own selfish gains. But there was a twist; the thieves weren’t the obvious villains. I think that the point of the twist was that you can’t judge other people before you get to know them. Kit believed in the innocence in her friend, which is another positive point in this movie.
So what if the makers of this movie have never heard of Hannah Montana or Miley Cyrus? I am a big fan of Miley and Hannah, but I have to say that this movie isn’t about them. It is about the American Girl, Kit Kittredge, and her life. People may think modern movies and modern people like Miley Cyrus are more appealing to some kids today, rather than a movie about Kit Kittredge and her adventures. I prefer an old-fashioned movie like Kit Kittredge because it is G rated, clean and slightly humorous, instead of a modern movie that may have some colorful language or something that may be inappropriate for young eyes. The movie “Kit Kittredge - an American Girl” is a family movie for people of all ages. And although your opinion may be different, I find this movie wonderful. I hope there are more movies about the American Girl.

P.S. The movie is not depressing and negative, your attitude is depressing and negative. At the end of the review, Dan Hudak said “Congrats Patricia Rozema, for making little girls sad. Hope you’re happy with yourself.” I think that was uncalled for. Dan Hudak made me sad, and I hope he’s happy with himself. I suggest that Mr. Hudak add a four to his 1 1/2 star rating, making it 4 and a half stars — what it should be.
