DAPHNE, Ala. — Construction is underway on Daphne’s second Zaxby’s restaurant.

LA Foods LLC, which is composed of mother-and-daughter-in-law team Anita Sandefur and Leslie Sandefur, plans to open the new quick-casual restaurant in the spring.

Located at 29680 Urgent Care Drive, across the street from Lowe’s and Sam’s Club in Malbis, the new restaurant will create an additional 50 to 60 jobs for the area.

“Daphne is an exciting area that presents a great opportunity for Zaxby’s to expand its local footprint,” said Hudson Sandefur, who, with his wife, brought the first Zaxby’s restaurant to Daphne in 2004 and owns an additional location in Foley. “We’ve built our reputation and loyal following by providing excellent service and great-tasting food, and we believe Daphne will benefit from a new Zaxby’s restaurant that will deliver that same experience at a second convenient location for Daphne residents.”

The new 3,480-square-foot location will seat 70 in Zaxby’s unique design — a bright, open interior décor complemented by custom vintage prints and school memorabilia. Zaxby’s will also offer drive-thru services to meet the needs of customers on the go.

Jerry Cooper will serve as the general manager for the new restaurant.

The new location will be the third for Baldwin County and the 61st for the state. Zaxby’s currently operates 515 locations in 12 states — Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Indiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas and Virginia.
