Mildred Evans Johnston Ziegler, 90, a native of Simpson County, Miss., and a resident of Fairhope since 1928, died Friday, Sept. 4, 2009.

She was a graduate of Fairhope High School and Soule Business College in New Orleans. She was the secretary at First Baptist Church of Fairhope for 25 years.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry Augustus Ziegler; son, Paul Edward Ziegler; brother, Manon Edward Johnston Jr.; sister, Evelyn Johnston Sparks; and a step-brother, Leo Johnston.

Survivors include a daughter, Mary Elizabeth Ziegler (Don) Chmielewski of Fairhope; sons, Joe Henry (Beverly) Ziegler of Satsuma, David Evans (Naomi) Ziegler of Callahan, Fla.; daughter-in-law, Paula Rouselle Ziegler of Baton Rouge, La; sister, Lillian Johnston Dickson of Brandon, Miss.; sister-in-law, Ann Crozier Johnston of Jacksonville, Fla.; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Graveside services and interment were held Monday, Sept. 7 at Memory Gardens of Fairhope.

The family requests memorial donations be made to the Southern Baptist World Hunger Fund at First Baptist Church of Fairhope or First Baptist Church of Fairhope Building Fund, 300 S. Section Street, Fairhope, AL 36532.
